The end of Independent Education -
The Front Runners for the position of Secretary of the Department
of Education are both Teacher Union Executive (NEA and AFT).
Both are avowed opponents of Charter Schools, especially those outsides of their control.
If they are approved by the Senate, there probably be an
immediate review of Charter School performance with the standards being higher
than those applied to Union Controlled Schools.
After this battle or maybe concurrently, Home Schooling will
come under review as well.
Germany currently outlaws Home Schooling unless a certified teacher is in the home. Otherwise every student must spend time in an institutional environment. Expect the DoE to exert more control over all students and especially home schools.
