The Revolution Historically Eats Its Own

Jillian York of the Electronic Frontier Foundation warns that today the tide of censorship “is against the speech of right-wing extremists . . . but tomorrow the tide might be against opposition activists.” The problem is that censors never believe they’ll lose power.

The French Revolution had its  Reign of Terror, an attempt to eradicate alleged "counter-revolutionaries"; by the time it ended in July 1794, over 16,600 had been executed in Paris and the provinces.

Similar happenings occurred during the Russian Revolution.  Remember Trotsky being assassinated in Mexico City?
