Self Reliance is only one of many essays written by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The Domino Project edition is an annotated edition, with selected passages commented on by various authors.
As a challenge to myself, I read the unannotated edition (free download from Gutenberg.org: Essays By Ralph Waldo Emerson)before reading the annotated version. Simply to form my own opinion and then correlate those opinions with The Domino Project edition. Using the Kindle edition, it's easy to have a sense of what others have marked, noted and highlighted, using the synch. Working with an imported edition of Essays, forces me to examine the essay(s), with my own lens not the shared lenses of others.
Sharing and collaboration have a place in the universe.
